'The Garden of Life'

by Marcie

Fairness and splendor are blooming in the window

as prosperity springs up in mosaic of colours

In a vibrant manner growth of these emotions
flow evenly and spread joy

Vigilance is being nurtured by the obsession to
succeed as goals are firmly planted inside the mind

Harmony trickles out of the watering can giving
new life to old hopes and dreams

Rocks that surround this garden are building diversity
and the vines are creeping with authenticity

Compassion is sprayed all over killing the weeds
of indifference and making way for tolerance

Here are some of Yvonne's list of famous writers :)

"Proud to be Metis"
We are Metis we stand tall and proud
We like to be meek, we like to be loud
We can dance the Red River Jig
Triple step, kick, jumps small and big

We are Metis and we are strong!
Red and White, we get along
from our province to yours
Our Metis pride soars

We are Metis and we are "One of a Kind"
Our Metis culture was sparked by two sets of minds
We see unity within diversity
Across this land our spirit flows endlessly

We are Metis and our homeland stretches from coast to coast we Metis are known to proudly boast
With our long black hair, brown or short blonde curls
Our beauty is unique and noticed all over the world

We are Metis and together we'll make a stronger stand
Proud to keep Riel's memory alive linked hand in hand
Our Metis youth are growing strong and fast
Riel empowering his Metis nation from the ashes of his past

From the colourful sash, to the infinity flag and the Red River cart so continues our love, faith, and belief straight  from our heart

True, patriot love from our brother Louis has set
us free simply put and stated with pride being Metis
